Beauty Expo 2025 opens today in Taipei: international record participation and ground-breaking beauty innovations

27 Mar 2025

Taipei, 27 March 2025. Taiwan’s leading and longest-running beauty trade show, Beauty Expo, officially opened its doors today at the Taipei World Trade Center, marking a historic milestone as the event becomes part of the prestigious global Beautyworld network by Messe Frankfurt. This 35th edition, themed “Beauty by Innovation”, has achieved unprecedented scale, featuring 230 exhibitors from China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand across 500 booths and covering 11,142 sqm of exhibition space – exhibitor numbers increased by 91% compared to the previous edition.

During the opening ceremony, Mr Stephan Buurma, Member of the Board of Management of Messe Frankfurt Group, emphasised the importance of this milestone: “Today marks a significant landmark as we celebrate not only the legacy of this iconic fair but also the beginning of an exciting new chapter. This year, we are proud to present the wonderful result of a strategic partnership between Messe Frankfurt and UDN.com, two influential forces in the global and local beauty industries.”

Mr Apollo Sun, CEO of UDN.COM, a subsidiary of United Daily News Group, also remarked: “Over the past 35 years, this exhibition has evolved from a simple industry gathering into a vital platform for the Asian beauty industry. This journey has not only showcased the dynamic growth of Taiwan's beauty sector but also underscored our commitment to innovate and adapt. This year, our theme is “Beauty by Innovation”, which represents not just a slogan but our vision for the future of the beauty industry. We firmly believe that continuous innovation is essential for standing out in the competitive international landscape and for providing consumers with enhanced and more personalised products and services.”

International beauty industry meets Taiwanese innovations
The four-day show runs until 30 March and brings together beauty professionals from around the world to explore cutting-edge products, technologies, and trends that are shaping the future of the USD 6 billion Taiwanese beauty and personal care market, which is projected to grow at a CAGR of 5.1% through 2030[1].

The fair will showcase international excellence across the beauty industry value chain. Visitors can explore innovative skincare formulations from ELT Cosmetics and Dr Cellio-Cellio, unique beauty tools from Nalu Co Ltd, and popular Korean brands distributed by ES International. ABio materials will present groundbreaking biotechnology with its ExoTraction® exosome extraction technology, while Guangzhou Caixuan Cosmetics Co Ltd will offer special nail gels. The fair will also feature health-boosting enzyme drinks from Lien Co Ltd. Supply chain innovations will be highlighted through Guangzhou Dingguan Biological Co Ltd and Jiangsu Coloses Packing Co Ltd's comprehensive product solutions.

On the Taiwanese side, exhibitors will demonstrate groundbreaking cross-industry innovation through biotechnology breakthroughs like Chorus’ “Sangsicle™” exosome ingredient, Largan Precision's USD 15 million venture applying optical technologies to beauty products, Goosepear's natural extraction technology, advanced professional beauty services from Snow Shine Beauty and Dr Nail utilising the latest technologies from Japan and Germany. Healtdeva will showcase its innovative approach combining natural plant extracts with biotechnology processes for high-quality therapeutic skincare and preventive medicine.

Spotlight: 2025 APAC Beauty Industry Trends Forum
A highlight of Day 1 is the 2025 APAC Beauty Industry Trends Forum themed “Connecting Taiwan, Korea, and Japan: Reimagining Global Beauty”. This high-profile event will bring together the industry experts Lucie Shin, Chief Industry Analyst at Trendier.ai (Korea), and Takako Yano, Editor-in-Chief of BeautyTech.jp (Japan), with Dr Feng-Chou Tsai, Chairman of the Taiwan Aesthetic Medicine and Industry Organisation, moderating a panel discussion.

This forum will reveal cutting-edge trends shaping the Asian beauty landscape, including Korea's focus on comprehensive acne solutions, “Slow Aging 3.0” targeting younger consumers, soft-vibe makeup aesthetics, multifunctional "Category Hacking" products, and pre-makeup skin preparation innovations. From Japan, key insights will highlight the growing influence of consumer reviews, advanced personalisation technologies from brands like Pola Apex, R&D breakthroughs in artificial skin by Nihon Menard, Shiseido's blockchain implementation for product authentication, and innovative cross-industry collaborations.

Taiwan’s economic impact and enhanced business opportunities
The expanded scale of Beauty Expo 2025 is expected to generate significant economic benefits for the region, with thousands of domestic and international visitors participating in the event. The fair serves as both a showcase for established brands and an entry point for international companies looking to access Taiwan's growing beauty market.

In addition to the exhibition, the event will feature a comprehensive fringe programme highlighting global market trends, awards presentations for makeup and hair artistry, and a manicure competition designed to provide valuable insights, foster creativity, and celebrate excellence in the beauty industry.

“The success of Beauty Expo Taipei lies in the seamless integration of global and local networks, made possible through the strategic alliance between Messe Frankfurt and UDN.com”, Mr Buurma notes. “This partnership allows us to bring together a diverse range of participants from around the world, facilitating industry development and creating new business opportunities in Taiwan.”
